Rhodes411 | Magic in storytelling.
When you take storytelling seriously, you have to take the plunge and just DO it.
David Rhodes has amassed an amazing HUGE number of faithful and loyal followers. How?
First, he’s just really engaging. Second, his quick cuts between locations are pure Hollywood joy.
He is truly a MASTER storyteller, and is now helping brands, events, and more get their message out with an EMCEE that is so brilliant and engaging you can not help but keep going back, day after day, for more and more!
SCSMM: Why do you think Snapchat has taken off?
One of the reasons Snapchat has taken off is because of its unique ability to have posts disappear after 24 hours. I think knowing that it won’t live online forever, people feel more comfortable sharing things every day without feeling like it’s too much. Another great thing about Snapchat is its diverse array of filters, emojis, stickers, drawing tools and more. It allows you to be both creative and unique with your posts.
SCSMM: What do you like to Snap about? / Why should everyone follow you on Snapchat and watch your stories every day?
I like to create fun and engaging stories using a blend of adventure, comedy, and unique camera work. Whether I’m taking my audience on a fun trip, a cool adventure, or taking them behind the scenes at an event or show, I like to give them a complete storytelling experience that flows together with a beginning, middle and end.
SCSMM: What would you recommend someone do just starting out on Snapchat?
Be yourself and don’t be afraid to experiment. Find out what works for you in terms of yoursnapchat style and then build upon that.
SCSMM: Have you ever been hired to represent a brand or product on Snapchat?
I’ve worked with brands such as NowThisNews, United Nations, Spotify, TIFF etc., and have some upcoming brand work with Red Bull.
SCSMM: How do you develop your Snapchat stories? Are the spontaneous or do you plan them out?
I usually have an idea of how I want my story to go ahead of time, however that can often change once you’re in the moment. You usually do your best to plan it out, but as things come up you have to be able to adapt on the spot.
SCSMM: What else do you do? What is your business?
I have been a professional content creator for 5 years using social media apps such as Twitter, Vine, Snapchat and Instagram. Outside of my personal brand, I was one of the early adopters of social media monetization and have been making a living on social media since 2011. I own and operate a diverse array of social media properties ranging across different topics and demographics, with a social reach of over 8 million followers. I’ve worked with brands like Sony, Fox, Red Bull and United Nations, and also provide consulting and marketing to companies eager to gain a foothold in the social media landscape, or looking to grow their social presence.
SCSMM: How do you think Snapchat has helped your life and business grow.
Snapchat has certainly helped me as a content creator because it really is a storyteller’s platform. It has allowed me to focus on creating daily content which isn’t something you can really do on other platforms. As a result I’m able to experiment more with different ideas.
SCSMM: Who are your favorite snapchatters?
Our Snapchat community is full of so many talented people. I’m afraid to leave anyone off the list, so I’ll play it safe and just say all of them!
