SCSMM: How did you first discover Snapchat?
I heard about snapchat, but like most, at the time I thought it was only to trade nudes or something. I didn’t pay much attention to it. It wasn’t until I read a blog post from Adventurous Kate about how every travel blogger needs to be on snapchat and that really peaked my interest.
SCSMM: Why do you think Snapchat has taken off?
I think it has taken off for the fact that it’s strictly interactions with your friends and people that you really want to engage with. Facebook is overrun with posts about the news, right now it’s just all Trump and then it’s just a dump of other internet junk. Don’t get me wrong, I love cat videos as much as the next person, but there comes a time where you really just want to engage with your friends and see what they are up to and not what stupid thing Trump said the other night. Snapchat allows you to share your own story every day.
SCSMM: What do you like to Snap about?
I like to snap about my life in Thailand and my travels around the world. I am teaching English in Thailand, so most days I’m snapping the joys and struggles of teaching in a foreign land.
SCSMM: Why should everyone follow you on Snapchat and watch your stories every day?
I offer an insight into other places that a lot of people haven’t been to, but might be thinking about going to one day. I’m also just real with my experiences, if something sucks, I’m going to tell you about it, but if it’s legit, I’ll tell you that too.
SCSMM: What would you recommend someone do just starting out on Snapchat?
Figure out what you want to do with Snapchat. You don’t have to stick to one theme with Snapchat, but I’d say at least have something that your viewers can always expect to hear a few times a week about. I’m a vlogger and more importantly, I’m a travel vlogger, so my viewers can always expect to hear something about a place that I’m traveling to next and they can expect to see me in a new place. Also join GhostCodes.com I can’t express that enough! My viewer rate jumped 10X after I started using that app and the greatest part about it is that you can find other Snapchat profiles that have the same interests as you do and this can really help with figuring out what works for them and how it can help you with your own Snapchat.
SCSMM: What else do you do? What is your business?
GlobaGiraffe.com is my travel blog. My videos, photography, and writings from my travels are all on there. I focus on the traveler that hasn’t left home yet but is day dreaming of going. I’m here to help nudge you in the direction of your dreams.
SCSMM: Who are YOUR favorite influencers on SnapChat?
Gabby@packslight.com Ginicanbreathe, Lesh&Jazza Travel, Adventures Around Asia are just a few that I absolutely love to follow.
